Oxfordshire County Council had agreed the purchase of part of an arable field within the village, to be turned into a playing field for East Hagbourne Primary School. Turfdry, which has a long and successful relationship with Oxfordshire County Council, was awarded a contract for the detailed design, construction, and drainage of the new sports facility. Following a detailed site survey, the works involved:
  • removal of the remnants of an arable crop
  • earthworks to create an evenly graded site
  • design and installation of a drainage scheme
  • cultivation and seeding works
  • initial maintenance programme
The works were undertaken during 2003/04 and have provided an excellent facility for the school.

Oxfordshire County Council Education Department, Assistant Landscape Manager, Steve Foster was extremely pleased with the works and regarded the finished article as "probably the best quality playing field that we've had constructed in recent years".
