Portfolio - Golf Course Greens Drainage
The Turfdry (Greens) Drainage System using Hydraway Sportsdrain has been successfully installed at more than 25 courses throughout the UK, with the earliest examples still working well after over 15 years. As such, the system represents a serious long-term alternative to rebuilding waterlogged greens - at a fraction of the cost. ClientLong Ashton Golf Club, Bristol
Services Provided Golf Course Greens and Fairways Drainage
Long Ashton GC, Bristol, first tried the Turfdry Drainage System when it was installed on their new 7th and 8th fairways in 1998, when current Head Greenkeeper James Braithwaite was assistant to Ivor Scoones. The drainage proved really successful and when, a decade later, the Club was looking to improve drainage on some greens, James did not hesitate to get in touch again with Turfdry, particularly after having heard good reports of the success of the Turfdry (Greens) Drainage System when installed on clay-based greens on other courses.
ClientSunningdale Golf Club, Berkshire
Services Provided Golf Course Greens Drainage
Sunningdale Golf Club was seeking to improve the Winter playability of some of their clay based greens, but did not wish to change the character of the greens by rebuilding. The Club Secretary, Stewart Zuill and Course Manager, Brian Turner considered a number of different options and visited one of Turfdry's contract sites at Blackmoor Golf Club, Hampshire in January 2000, to watch the installation of the Turfdry (Greens) Drainage System using Hydraway Sportsdrain.
Having been impressed with the installation techniques and monitored the subsequent drainage efficiency, the decision was made to have one green drained at Sunningdale as a trial in February 2002.
ClientShirley Park Golf Club, Surrey
Services Provided Golf Course Greens Drainage
Shirley Park GC is one of many golf clubs with which Turfdry has benefited from ‘repeat business’, based primarily on the success of the drainage works carried out but also on the strength of good working relationships that have continued to flourish even with changes in personnel.
ClientLiphook Golf Club, Hampshire.
Services Provided Golf Course Greens and Fairways Drainage
David Murdoch, Head Greenkeeper at Liphook Golf Club (and one of a select group to have attained ‘Master Greenkeeper’ status) first contacted Turfdry in 2002, having heard good reports about drainage works carried out at nearby Blackmoor Golf Club. Initially, he wanted some fairway drainage on the 13th hole, which Turfdry completed in October 2003. Looking back two years later, he was impressed enough to describe the Turfdry Drainage System as "brilliant" and decided to have three greens drained using the same system in October 2005.
