“Turfdry did an excellent job. They delivered the project on-time with very little disruption which was not easy given the cricket, tennis and football that were all operational. Stuart and his team were great to work with and always available for discussion. We will be contracting with Turfdry next year to carry out other works on our site.”

Melbourne Rugby Club, in Derbyshire, is looking forward to the welcome winter sound of cash registers ringing in the bar, now that its 1st and 2nd Team rugby pitches have had new Hydraway Drainage systems installed by Turfdry.

Recent winters had been quite desolate due to extensive fixture cancellations due to waterlogging, and the club decided to take action with the aid of an RFU-loan. A Tufdry initiative had been launched in 2017 to improved drainage for RFU-affiliated clubs using Turfdry’s unique Hydraway drainage system, following seven years of monitoring by the RFU of other successful installations of the Turfdry Drainage System at other clubs. Additionally, Turfdry’s Hydraway system already had a proven track-record at Melbourne Sport Partnership (MSP), a multi-sport umbrella organisation that encompasses Rugby, Cricket, Tennis, and Football activities in the area.

Though the rugby pitch drainage was delayed for two years until 2020, awaiting a new storm-water sewer for the MSP site, additional funding has now allowed the RFU-loan to fund other proposed improvements. We look forward to bringing you more news of our work with Melbourne Sporting Partnership in the new year, but for now why not take a look at the Turfdry RFU-Affiliated Rugby Pitch Drainage Initiative, or some more case studies from the hundreds of successful pitch drainage installations nationwide?
