Athletics Infield Re-Design & Reconstruction

Turfdry had already carried out numerous successful projects for Essex County Council (value around £500k) before being asked, in 2007, to look at problems with an existing athletics infield at Mark Hall Specialist Sports College, Harlow, which had been poorly constructed and was prone to serious waterlogging.

Turfdry’s proposals involved ripping up the existing surface and importing 1,500 tonnes of new topsoil to enable improved surface gradients to be achieved, prior to the installation of a new Turfdry Drainage System with Hydraway Sportsdrain at 2.5 metre centres.

Due to the need to get the facility back into play in the shortest time possible the field was then re-turfed in February 2008, rather than re-seeded, and was back in use two months later.
